God is real, as real as you are – no, more real than you are. And this website is dedicated to providing you extensive, persuasive evidence that God is real. This is the most important belief you can hold, the most important decision you can make, in your entire life. We are here to help you.

What Does “God Is Real” Mean?

“God is real” means the Creator of the Universe, the Supreme Being, the Higher Power, the Yahweh of the Bible, “actually exists as a thing or occurring in fact; not imagined or supposed.” God is not a figment of anyone’s imagination. God actually exists. Thousands of people every day search online for “god is real” and “is god real,” so obviously many people have questions about this. This website is focused on answering those questions better than any other single website on the Internet.

Why Many People Don’t Believe God Is Real

Why doesn’t everybody believe God is real, especially in today’s turbulent world? There are several reasons, including:

1. God is invisible and cannot be observed by the senses.
2. It is impossible to prove the existence of God using logic alone. It requires faith in the “substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
3. Public education and the mass media assume a worldview known as materialism, that only matter and energy are real. This is all most people know. However it is only one of many possible views of reality in general and the reality of God in particular.
4. Many people value freedom over responsibility. They want to do whatever they feel like, and do not want to be accountable to any God.
5. They had bad experiences in childhood and associate “God” with painful memories, whether they remember them consciously or not. For example someone forced to attend church by a stern parent, where the minister preached fire and brimstone or other scary stuff, may not want anything to do with “God” or religion as an adult.
6. They grew up in a country such as North Korea or China where Judeo-Christian religious practices were banned or suppressed.
7. There is so much evil and suffering in the world such as the painful deaths of little children, as the reasoning goes, “If God is good, how can he permit such suffering, and if God is not good, he is not really God.” This is a complex topic to be addressed elsewhere on this site.
8. Many other personal and cultural reasons are possible.

So What Is The Evidence That God Is Real?

Well that is the purpose of this whole website, and we encourage you to read the many other articles linked from the main menu above. In brief here are a few main facts supporting the belief that God is real:

1. The universe began with a Big Bang. It has not always existed. It was created at a point in time, at the beginning of time as we know it. The universe is “only” about 13.8 billion years old. You may believe the universe was created by God, or that it somehow (?) created itself. For millions of people the “created by God” option is more believable, but it is your choice.
2. The universe is extremely orderly. All the so-called Laws of mathematics, physics and other sciences did not create themselves. There had to be a Law-creator, the one we call God. How does mathematics, a symbolic mental exercise, accurately predict the behavior of the physical universe? What do numbers and symbols have to do with the motions of galaxies or the speed of light? 3. Life is too complex to have evolved by chance. As this article explains in more depth, the number of variables for even a single-cell organism to have evolved by chance are far beyond anything possible, to say nothing of human beings. The DNA molecule alone is incredibly complex and could not have evolved by chance. Someone once said that the possibility that life evolved by chance is like saying a tornado ran over a junkyard and output a fully functioning jet airplane. But even a complex jet airplane does not possess life. Life could not have evolved by chance. Chance means “the occurrence and development of events in the absence of any apparent order or design.” Chance means chaos really. But order existed at the first microsecond of the Big Bang. There really is no such thing as chance.
4. Human beings have a “God-shaped hole” in them. They instinctively know that there must be more to life and reality than the sensory world. They naturally yearn for meaning and purpose. As Saint Augustine said, “You have made us for yourself, O Lord, and our heart is restless until it rests in you.” Perhaps this is why you are on this website today. But the Bible does not try to prove the existence of God – the Bible reveals God.
5. Millions and millions of people have believed in God over the centuries. Examples of early statements of belief include the Apostle’s Creed and the Nicene Creed. A recent Gallup poll found that 87% of Americans believe in God, although church attendance continues to decline.
6. God communicates with us. He speaks through the Bible, through daily life, through the words and deeds of others. And sometimes if you are quiet and listen, you can hear a “still small voice” or an authoritative voice speaking inside of your mind and spirit. You can know this is the voice of God if it is consistent with the scriptures and does not tell you to commit some selfish or anti-social act.
7. God answers prayers. God is not a magic genie that will give you three or more wishes if you ask. He may give you what you want (“yes”), he may deny your request (“no”) for his own purposes, or he may tell you to “wait.” How God answers prayers for each person is a mystery, and this is a complicated topic to be addressed elsewhere. But there are a tremendous number of people who have experienced amazing, sometimes life-changing answers to prayer. That is a fact. 
8. Near-death experiences. Modern medicine has the ability to bring people who have clinically died, flatlined on the operating table, back to life. A growing number of those people report amazing “near-death experiences” in which their spirits rise up and observe the frantic resuscitation efforts in the operating room, then go through a tunnel of light, and meet God or Jesus in heaven. They have profound experiences communicating with the divinity, and return to life on earth absolutely convinced their experience was real.
